DIY with Kyal & Selleys Aquadhere
06 Jan 2015
In 2014, Kyal began working with Selleys to produce some guides on making small everyday objects using Selleys Aquadhere. It's no secret that Kyal loves working with timber, so he was definatley in his element.

The first thing Kyal ever made for me was a huge 3 metre mirror with some old cedar weather boards and a mirror recycled from an old wardrobe sliding door. He was completing his carpentry apprenticeship at the time and I was a first year physiotherapy student. 10 years later, it still takes pride of place in our home, and can imagine that it will till we're old (still not sure what age qualifies someone as "old" by the way).  There is something special about a homemade piece, either for you to use yourself, or give as a gift. The hardwood timber for the chopping board that you see in the video below was sourced from a hardware store and was being sold as fence stakes for around $10 dollars. Similarly, a couple of years ago we made some pendant lights using our old hardwood fence. The point is, if your looking to create some special pieces for your home, you really don't have to spend a fortune. If you don't have any old timber lying around, perhaps ask a neighbour, visit a recycled timber yard or head to a second hand furniture store. Make the most of the extra daylight in summer and get creative!
